Chloe Smith MP has today called for Norwich residents to nominate a group of inspirational young people to receive the Philip Lawrence Award.
The national and widely regarded award will be given to a group of young people aged 11 to 20 who have made a difference in their community and will be accompanied with £1000 to invest in continuing their project. Chloe is able to provide nomination forms and further details on request, or local groups can nominate themselves at http://www.philiplawrenceawards.net/the-awards.
Commenting on the awards Chloe Smith said:
"I have always been a strong advocate and supporter of voluntary work within local communities. Having met with many groups of young people from Norwich and around - and indeed as a young MP myself - I'm well aware of the positive difference many of them make in our community, whether through volunteering, campaigning, getting involved in positive activities, or helping others.
"I would strongly recommend that as many youth groups as possible come forward and put themselves up for nomination and potentially receive this prestigious award and £1000 to invest in their work. It would be a triumph to win from Norwich."
The awards are open to groups of young people aged 11-20. For more information, and to enter the awards, visit www.philiplawrenceawards.net. You can also read about previous winners, watch videos of their work, and engage with the network through Twitter and Facebook.
The closing date is 15th September 2010
