Keep the Royal Mail public - Kevin Brennan MP
ED Balls MP recently visited Cardiff to join forces with Kevin Brennan MP to campaign against the privatisation of the Royal Mail amid fears the Government is seeking to sell off the public service.

The demonstration,  in conjunction with the Communications Workers Union (CWU), took place near the main Post Office outside the Queens Arcade.

Speaking after the demonstration the Cardiff West MP, Kevin Brennan, demanded the Government come clean over their plans for the Royal Mail.

"The Royal Mail is an essential public service to all communities in Cardiff West and Wales as a whole," said Kevin.

"Business Secretary, Vince Cable, has already strongly hinted that he will privatise the Royal Mail by stating a report that encourages privatisation is still broadly valid today.

"That is why I have joined the CWU, Ed Balls and most importantly the postal workers themselves in fighting to keep Royal Mail public.

"There is a real danger of the profitable parts of Royal Mail being hived off and the less profitable bits left to suffer.

"The privatisation of the postal service would be a disaster for local communities, with profit being put before service, we could see Post Offices closing, the threat of redundicies and the end of universal postal pricing for all.

"The Government should do the decent thing and keep the Royal Mail public or at the very least state their plans for Royal Mail so the hard working postal workers throughout the country know where they stand."
