Whitehall's Adrian Mole
You have to feel a little sorry for the Observer / Guardian's "secret civil servant".
Making much of their anonymity, Whitehall's answer to Adrian Mole recently complained about how the beastly Coalition is doing away with scores of surplus Whitehall bureaucrats.
Far from eliciting sympathy, however, our mystery blogger discovered that "scores of people poured out their venom on the website beneath my piece to express their view that civil servants are a useless burden on the economy."
Poor fellow. You see that's the thing with this internet thingy. It allows the people to answer back.
And it must come as quite a shock for Guardianistas and quangocrats to discover that folk out there don't like their government-knows-best presumption.
