Back during the Summer recess I had an email from the president of a new organisation called Fair Spend, asking for endorsement. As such a new organisation, Fair Spend is still really in its developmental stages, but its aim is to get the fairest price for products and services most used by students for all those in state education in the UK, regardless of their age. The system will work by students signing up for a Fair Spend card and then using it to buy things on which discounts have already been negotiated by Fair Spend, such as travel, study materials and entertainment. In principle this seems like a very good idea and the fact that the organisation is openly not-for-profit makes it all the more admirable.
I thought I'd give it a quick mention here in order to give the fledgling organisation a little boost. If you are a student or know a student then perhaps you'd like to check it out or pass the details of Fair Spend on so that more people can get involved.
