Up, up and away - Andy Love MP
Last Thursday I headed round the corner from my Fore Street office to the beautiful Pymmes Park. I wasn't there for a stroll or to sit and enjoy the sun; I was there to help launch Enfield Council's Parks Strategy with Mayor Jayne Buckland.

The new parks and open spaces strategy is a plan for the next 10 years; a plan to make all the parks and green spaces in Edmonton and across the whole of Enfield fit for the future. A great deal of work went into it by parks staff who looked at all the borough's open spaces and consulted extensively with nearby residents and park users.

The final draft of the parks strategy was tied to balloons and actually launched into the sky with the help of some, shall I say "eager" children ... well, in my experience, where there are balloons there are generally children not far behind!

It was a great day, not only because there were balloons and games and face painting and the local kids had fun, but because it marked the start of a new future for our parks and green spaces. In a built-up urban environment where there is often limited access to back gardens, making the most of the open spaces around us is really important. If we can improve those open spaces then that's even better.
