Testing, testing, 1, 2, 3 - Andy Love MP
A few weekends ago I got up at the crack of dawn, literally, to go to Chase Farm Hospital for a special interview on Radio Enfield.

The hospital radio station was celebrating its 40th birthday and had been granted a four-day one-off FM licence enabling them to broadcast to the whole of the borough, instead of just the hospital wards.

A total of 80 guests - including me of course! - were lined up to make an appearance over the course of the broadcast, and even Tony Blackburn submitted a message to be played out.

Apart from a little hiccup where a pirate radio station managed to block Radio Enfield's signal to a section of the borough, the special broadcast was a resounding success and a great way to celebrate 40 years of being on air ... and there was cake to really mark the occasion! In case you missed it, Radio Enfield are gradually uploading various podcasts from the event to their website. I'll let you know if and when mine appears.

In the meantime, you can actually listen online to the station's everyday broadcasts and learn a little bit more about the station here. You can even donate some money or your time, if you're local (or even if you're not), to help keep them going. Radio Enfield does a great job of providing free and much-needed entertainment to patients in Chase Farm Hospital, but it only survives through the generosity of volunteers. Who knows? YOU could be the next Tony Blackburn!
